Charity Week is one week in the year, where Islamic societies, colleges, schools, community associations and businesses from across the country come together to raise crazy amounts of money for orphans and needy children around the world! “And they feed for the love of Allah, the indigent, the orphan and the captive. We feed you for the sake of Allah alone: no reward do we desire from you, nor thanks” (Quran Surah Al-Insaan:8) The value and reward of charity is immense in Islam and there are countless Qur’anic ayahs and Hadith which commend acts of charity and explain how it should be an integral part of our lives. One such example is that which can be found in Surah al-Hadeed: 18 which states: "Indeed the men who give Sadaqah (voluntary charity) and the women who give Sadaqah (all of them) are lending a goodly loan to Allah; the return for them will be increased; and for them shall be an exquisite reward." Reference/Bibliography/Citation management software
Baru-baru ini saya menghadiri kursus pendek bagaimana mencari, mengurus maklumat menggunakan EndNote. EndNote adalah tool untuk menguruskan reference/bibliography/citation dari carian laman sesawang ke document processor macam word. Macam ditujukkan dirajah 1[1]
Tanya kat U helpdesk berapa harganya….. 135 paund 70 student price…
So mula terfikir nak yang free…. search kat google reference management software ….. rupanya banyak software yg boleh buat macam EndNote free pulak tu and some open source dan kat wiki juga ada pembandingan antara pelbagai tool nie. Ada satu artikel kat fauseus.net Finding the right bibliographic/reference yang membincang tool nie…. rakan pulak lihat.
Tanya rakan-rakan kat school apa tool yang baik, rata-rata kat BibTex yg good that they use in their research, tapi itu yang guna LaTex. Oleh kerana malas nak belajar gunakan LaTex walaupun ada LaTex yg guna GUI macam LyX. Tapi dah biasa guna Word so kena cari option lain.
dari cari google…. saya dah cuba beberapa sofware cam JebRef, BiBus and Zotero. Saya lihat Zotero agak sesuai dengan saya.
Zotero simple je as plug-in kpd Firefox web browser and ada add-in plug-in kepada word and openoffice. Yang menariknya tentang Zotero ini … ada satu artiket kat sini ….. dimana Thomson Router tuan punya EndNote, Refman, Procite dan tuan punya ISI Web of Knowledge menyaman Commonwealth of Virginia, to stop George Mason University from distributing its new Web browser application, Zotero software, boleh baca lebih kat courthouse New service . Ia menarik perhatian saya kerana Thomson Router adalah gergasi dalam industri media/maklumat mewarwarkan kekuatiran pada software yg bidangnya didominasi oleh mereka, bagi saya ini suatu yang perlu dilihat dan dicuba. So saya dowload Zotero utk Firefox and plug-in utk word.
Dari perbandingan dari apa saya belajar masa kursus hari tu dengan Zotero memang agar sama fungsinya plus Zotero free and senang untuk edit refence style berbandingan dengan EndNote. Instructor hari tu cakap reference syle EndNote boleh buat sendiri tapi yg terbaik gunakan apa yg ada dlm libry kalau tak harubiru katanya buat lain keluar lain.
Semasa artikel nie saya tulis saya sedang membaca paper dlm PdF dari cari IEEExplore yang saya simpan dalam Zotero seperti dlm rajah 2.
Menariknya Zotero boleh buat reference/citation/bibliography plus capture PdF file directly dari IEEexplore, science direct dll dengan syarat University subcribe service tu le.
Kesimpulannya:
Pada pendapat saya, tool yang begini perlu untuk pelajar macam saya untuk mengurus dalam carian, simpan dan menulis thesis nanti. Saya cadangkan Zotero untuk dicuba oleh rakan-rakan, simple and free tool.
